Working with THEMOIRè, Kemka Ajoku explores the idea of protection, feeding into the project’s title "Protecting the environment is protecting ourselves". Born and raised in London, Kemka Ajoku's photographs aim to rewrite the documentation of Black British culture, through fashion and portraiture. In an era where human interaction is becoming renewed and reassessed, introspection is more prevalent than ever before, analysing the relationship one has with protecting their bodies, as well the environment. With this project, Kemka draws parallels through imagery between the human body and our natural environment, looking at how the two work together in cohesion through biological interactions, whilst blurring lines between still life and fashion photography in a storytelling format.
